Did you know acupuncture is successful in treating pain and other health difficulties
such as lower back, neck, headache and muscle pain from accidents and injuries?
However, it is not well-known that acupuncture can also be helpful in treating other health difficulties such as anxiety, insomnia, nausea, digestive problems, menstrual problems, weight control, infertility, and much, much more.
This long standing ancient traditional Chinese technique uses hair-thin, solid, metallic
needles that are inserted at specific points called acupoints through the patient’s skin
and inserted at differing depths into the skin. It is based on the belief that blocked chi, or
energy, causes pain and that stimulating some of our more than 300 acupoints, each
believed to affect a specific body part or organ, can unblock energy and relieve pain.
Acupuncture therapy regulates the balance between a person’s spiritual, emotional,
mental, and physical state. The majority of patients feel no or very minimal pain as the
needles are inserted and usually report that they feel more energized by treatment, and
others report they feel more relaxed.
Non-Needle Electro Acupuncture
Along with traditional acupuncture with single use disposable needles, we offer non-needle electro acupuncture utilizing electrical probes. This type of non-needle treatment has been proven surprisingly effective. A recent article in Health Day News (5/12/2009) reported; "Any kind of acupuncture, whether it pierced the skin or not, eased chronic lower back pain in a group of adult patients.
There are no answers to that question of how non-needle acupuncture can work so well, but some theories persist. It's possible that the "superficial" acupuncture still kicks off a cascade of physiological processes that result in relief. You can stimulate a point with pressure, needle, electricity, even now with laser light and different frequencies of laser light. "Pecking" on a point is a Japanese technique for stimulation. This technique is often used with someone who is older or weak in their constitution.
